Ever since the premiere of the fourth campaign, new Dungeon Master Brennan Mulligan has kept fans guessing with deep backstory, a diverse cast of personalities, and a thrilling plot including celestial beings, demons, and dark forces expanding in influence within Dol-Makjar.
Warning: Key plot points for the third episode of Campaign 4 are included.
The Combat-Oriented Party Unveiled
Episode 3 ended with a major cliffhanger and introduced the initial group of adventurers who will separate from the central cast to embark on their separate journey, separate from the other two tables.
The combat-focused team includes Teor Pridesire (played by the voice actor), Thimble (Laura), the fierce warrior (Whitney), Wicander Halovar (Sam Riegel), and the mysterious adventurer (the actor).
Why Split the Party?
Given 13 cast members, it was evident from the start that having everyone at one table would be unworkable.
This explains, the opening chapters of this story serve as an Introduction, connecting the characters’ stories before splitting into three smaller tables: Warriors, Strategists, and Seekers.
Characteristics of the Warrior Group
Per the DM, the warrior group is for adventurers who are drawn to a traditionally charged fight-heavy narrative style where diplomatic options are rare.
Upon first impression, figures such as the reluctant priest Wicander Halovar might look out of place, but the actions of the third episode demonstrate why these particular heroes are perfectly fit for the Soldiers table.
Reasons to Leave
For one thing, the team understands precisely where to go next after a intense initial meeting with The Crow Keepers.
An old friend of the deceased character—whose passing initiated the story’s plot—used The Crow Keepers for his personal gain, invading Thjazi’s hideout, assaulting the rogue, and swiping all the magical artifacts to auction.
The traitor then cleared his liabilities and escaped to a secure base in the remote area, above the urban center, with Teor’s brother pursuing him.
Character Drivers
Moreover, each adventurer has a specific drive to exit the metropolitan area:
- The rogue, as the companion and best friend, desires retribution.
- Kattigan has experience in Timmony and cautions that it is a nasty place.
- Tyranny and Wicander, having defied his family’s wishes to eliminate the fighter and instead rescued him, have no safe haven.
- However, their position as important members in the powerful family could enable the party access locations they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Additionally, Teor vowed a unbreakable promise to The cleric for his deliverance and will now go with him everywhere.
Pursued by Authorities
Lastly, all of them are wanted by the powers that control the city for a multiple motives, making lingering locally no longer safe:
- Thimble and The hero are notorious outlaws.
- The strong figure and The healer turned against House Halovar and the horde of evil beings they are partnered with.
- The fighter is targeted for elimination by the clan.
This results in them little choice but to journey toward the remote area in search of Casimir.
Upcoming Developments
From episode three’s Cooldown, we learn that the combat party won’t be around the following episode, leaving the other eight cast members to assemble the Seekers and Strategists tables.
